Applied Materials - AutoMod
Dan Muller (Applied Materials)

Abstract:
Decision making in industry has become more complicated in recent years. Customers are more demanding, competition is fierce, and costs for labor and raw materials continue to rise. Managers need state-of-the-art tools to help in planning, design and operations of their facilities. Simulation provides a virtual factory where ideas can be tested and performance improved. The AutoMod product suite from Applied Materials has been used on thousands of projects to help engineers and managers make the best decisions possible. Come see the latest AutoMod release of one of the most widely used simulation software packages.

Introduction to Simio
Claude Dennis Pegden (Simio LLC)

Abstract:
This paper describes a new modeling system – SimioTM - that is designed to simplify model building by promoting a modeling paradigm shift from the process orientation to an object orientation. Simio is a simulation modeling framework based on intelligent objects. The intelligent objects are built by modelers and then may be reused in multiple modeling projects. Although the Simio framework is focused on object-based modeling, it also supports a seamless use of multiple modeling paradigms including event, process, object, and agent-based modeling.

Tackling the Big Problems Using GoldSim: Probabilistic Dynamic Simulation Software for Risk and Decision Analysis in Engineering, Science and Business
Rick Kossik (GoldSim Technology Group)

Abstract:
GoldSim is used to support strategic planning and risk analysis for complex systems. GoldSim can simultaneously represent continuous and discrete dynamics and provides powerful probabilistic modeling capabilities. This presentation summarizes capabilities and describes applications ranging from water resource and fisheries management, to climate change and planning manned space missions.

CreateASoft, Inc. - Next Generation Dynamic Simulation: How Simcad Pro is Different
Hosni Adra (CreateASoft, Inc.)

Abstract:
The world we live in is ever changing. Your day is dynamic... so why not simulate it with a dynamic tool? Simcad Pro Next Generation Dynamic Simulator operates under a completely different paradigm than traditional static tools. Our patented multi-core simulation engine utilizes the most advanced hardware technology to interface directly to the engine allowing users to perform "on-the-fly" model changes during the simulation run, without the need to code. Experience the difference of dynamic simulation for your dynamic world. Stop by and take the Simcad Pro Challenge; we’ll build your process from modeling to analysis, in under 30 minutes, while providing instant visualization in 2D and 3D. Forget what SIMAN says; drop off your business card for a chance to win Simcad Pro (a $5000 Value) and say goodbye to traditional static tools!

ProModel Corporation - Project and Program Management
Joe Giannitti (ProModel Corporation)

Abstract:
You know simulation can answer the tough questions around layout, bottlenecks, capacity planning and capital justification, but did you know simulation is key to better project and program management? Come see the latest ProModel innovations in simulation based PORTFOLIO and PROJECT management. Find out how the DoD and others are applying simulation to Strategic Resource Capacity Planning in a new paradigm.

Simio and Southwest Research Inst.

Chair: Sandy Owens (INFORMS)

Introduction to Simio
Dennis Pegden (Simio LLC)

Abstract:
Intelligent objects make simulation easier. Gain hands-on experience with Dennis Pegden’s new graphical modeling framework. It supports construction of models designed with object-oriented principles. Using familiar graphical process flows, build 3D animated models as easy as creating 2D models. Avoid text-based computer language.

Southwest Research Institute - Human Aggregate and Crowd Behavior Modeling Using MAICE Station™
Pete Hottenstein (Southwest Research Institute)

Abstract:
Current events with national and international security implications have markedly increased the need for human aggregate and crowd behavior modeling systems. In response, Southwest Research Institute has developed MAICE Station, a software analysis tool using agent-based modeling to evaluate emergent behaviors based on the actions and interactions of simulated autonomous individuals in one or more groups. MAICE Station scenarios and associated models simulate the simultaneous actions of numerous independent agents in an attempt to re-create, analyze and predict the outcomes of complex human interactions. MAICE Station provides a variety of visualization tools and can be used as an analysis platform as well as a briefing and training tool for event management or post event evaluation.
