Rockwell Automation-Arena Overview
Thomas
Hayson (Rockwell Automation)
Abstract:
Find out why Arena is presented at WSC more than any
other simulation tool and why it's the overwhelming choice of simulation
professionals worldwide. This session introduces modeling concepts, features,
animation and scenario management, as well as surveys advanced Arena features.
Demonstrations include basic applications in the manufacturing, supply chain,
logistics, defense, healthcare, call center and business process scenarios.
Frontline Systems Risk Solver: A New Paradigm for
Monte Carlo Simulation
Daniel H. Fylstra (Frontline Systems, Inc.)
Abstract:
Monte Carlo simulation in Microsoft Excel has grown in
popularity for 15 years, but has remained a setup-simulate-report ‘batch
process.’ Risk Solver offers a new paradigm with near-instantaneous
simulations that occur each time you change a number on the spreadsheet. See
how Interactive Simulation and Probability Management bring rapid insights to
your simulation models.

VISUAL8 and Brooks Automation
Chair: ()
VISUAL8 Corp.-SIMUL8-Planner
Kieran
Concannon (VISUAL8 Corp)
Abstract:
Visual8 Corp. presents SIMUL8-Planner, a finite
capacity scheduling tool that combines production modeling with job sequencing
to create synchronized work order scheduling across plant operations.
SIMUL8-Planner is designed to address a wide range of planning and sequencing
problems with pre-built scheduling modules that allow for the rapid creation
and implementation of integrated solutions.
Brooks Automation-AutoMod Product
Suite
Dan Muller (Brooks Automation)
Abstract:
Decision making in industry has become more complicated
in recent years. Customers are more demanding, competition is more fierce, and
costs for labor and raw materials continue to rise. Managers need
state-of-the-art tools to help in planning, design and operations of their
facilities. Simulation provides a virtual factory where ideas can be tested
and performance improved. The AutoMod product suite from Brooks Automation has
been used on thousands of projects to help engineers and managers make the
best decisions possible. Come see the latest AutoMod release of one of the
most widely used simulation software packages.

Decisioneering and PMC Corporation
Chair: ()
Decisioneering - Crystal Ball
Software
Jackie Farritor (Decisioneering)
Abstract:
Crystal Ball® is a suite of Microsoft® Excel-based
applications for Monte Carlo simulation, forecasting, optimization and real
options analysis. Crystal Ball transforms your spreadsheets into dynamic
models that solve almost any problem involving uncertainty, variability and
risk. We provide software, training and consulting services to understand,
communicate and manage risk.
PMC-Kanban Simulator, Program Portfolio Simulator
and Asprova Scheduler
Onur Ulgen (Production Modeling Corp.)
Abstract:
PMC presents several products for simulation and
scheduling of systems including KanbanSIM, PPSim and Asprova. KanbanSIM is a
Kanban System simulator for assembly systems that use pull Kanbans. Both
Card-Kanbans and Electronic-Kanbans are incorporated in the simulator and
optimize the assembly station Kanban levels and the flow of material handling
equipment in the system. PPSim is a Program Portfolio Simulator for program
capacity allocation decisions and execution of programs under different
scenarios in a company involved in developing complex products. PPSim helps to
optimize the program throughput of a company under limited capacity of
resources. Asprova is an APS (Advanced Planning and Scheduling) software that
plans and schedules your production under optimal conditions on a daily,
weekly and monthly basis as an operational tool working with your ERP and shop
floor systems.

Palisade Corporation and Visual
Components
Chair: ()
Palisade Corp.-From Software to Solutions in
Statistics and Risk Analysis
Shawn Harahush (Palisade Corporation)
Abstract:
Palisade, famous for its Monte Carlo simulation
software, @RISK, offers a suite of powerful and sophisticated analytical data
software tools that are useful both independently and in conjunction with one
another. These tools fall into four main categories: risk and decision
analysis, data analysis, optimization and developer kits.
Visual Components 3D Simulation Toolkit: From
Sales to Optimized Production Scheduling
Craig Lybeck and Heike
Krug (Visual Components)
Abstract:
Visual Components' layered tools and intuitive
plug-and-play equipment libraries deliver multiple re-use of digital assets
that significantly improve the return on Digital Factory investments. See how
companies have used 3DCreate to develop customised sales tools, off-line
programming applications for robotics and optimized production schedules for
weekly production runs of electronic consumer devices. A joint presentation
with Dualis-IT Solutions GmBH from Germany.
Tuesday 1:30:00 PM 3:00:00 PM
SIMUL8 and Rockwell Automation
Chair: ()
SIMUL8 Corporation-SIMUL8 Standard and
Professional
Mark Elder (SIMUL8 Corporation)
Abstract:
This presentation will show you how to use SIMUL8, the
fast and friendly discrete event simulation tool. Mark founded SIMUL8 in 1994.
He will explain the company’s original goals and how the software has helped
it achieve them. You will see, during this presentation, how you can easily
conduct complete simulation studies in less than half a day.

Institute
Chair: ()
Wolverine Software-SLX, Proof and
GPSS/H
James O. Henriksen (Wolverine Software)
Abstract:
This talk will present an overview of Wolverine
Software's products, along with small examples that illustrate key aspects of
software design and applicability. SLX is Wolverine's Simulation Language with
Extensibility, a powerful discrete event modeling platform. Proof is a
general-purpose animation package for use in discrete event simulation. GPSS/H
is Wolverine's original product, first offered in 1977 and still in widespread
active use.

Steffen Strassburger and Steffen
Masik (Fraunhofer Inst. for Factory Operation & Automation IFF)
Abstract:
The Virtual Development and Training Center of the
Fraunhofer IFF develops innovative software for virtual reality and
simulation. Our frontline product is the Virtual Development and Training
Platform, a scalable interactive virtual reality system. This platform
interfaces with well-known simulation systems and creates realistic and highly
interactive visualizations. Typical applications of our software include
factory layout planning as well as worker training. Our services focus on the
integration of simulation and visualisation with your workflows. This includes
simulation service providing via web-hosting solutions as well as the
integration of different systems via HLA.
