Flexsim-High Fidelity DIS in Logistics
Simulation
Eamonn Lavery (Flexsim Softwre Products, Inc.) and
William Nordgren (Flexsim Software Products, Inc.)
Abstract:
Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) has become an
important topic for discrete event simulation. Flexsim presents the first DIS
system of its kind in the discrete event system modeling field, which uses
revolutionary technology based on the commercial Flexsim engine. A case study
model is presented and the applications and benefits of the new technology are
discussed.
Incontrol Enterprise Dynamics-Business
Solutions
Jan Thiermann and Jeroen Bijsterbosch (Incontrol
Enterprise Dynamics)
Abstract:
Two leading manufacturing companies, Heidelberger
Druckmaschinen AG and Nacco Materials Handling Group Inc., implemented a
simulation-driven sales support application based on ED. Both applications,
"BizModel" and "NMHG Warehouse Manager" provide sales representatives with all
necessary product and financial information to calculate operational costs and
ROIs of proposed equipment configurations. The products are highly intuitive
and don't require simulation knowledge to operate. Results are presented in
business format.

Systems Navigator-Scenario
Navigator
Rienk Bijlsma (Systems Navigator)
Abstract:
Scenario Navigator is a software tool for facilitating
project/document management, data management, scenario management, reporting
and operational decision support. Scenario Navigator is not a simulation
modeling tool, but can work in coordination with models built in any
simulation software package. With Scenario Navigator both model builders and
project end users can analyze and compare different scenarios quickly to
facilitate better decision making!
Rockwell Automation-Arena
Overview
Thomas Hayson (Rockwell Software)
Abstract:
Find out why Arena is presented at WSC more than any
other simulation tool and why it's the overwhelming choice of simulation
professionals worldwide. This session introduces modeling concepts, features,
animation and scenario management, as well as surveys advanced Arena features.
Demonstrations include basic applications in the manufacturing, supply chain,
logistics, defense, healthcare call center and business process scenarios.

V-Sim--World Leader in Emulation
Solutions
Joe Hugan (V-Sim)
Abstract:
V-Sim is maintaining its position as a market-maker in
emulation solutions. With the just-released V-Sim 2008, V-Sim has
significantly enhanced its functionality and appearance, making it even easier
for engineers to validate their control logic in a virtual test environment.
Companies around the world, from General Motors to Dell, rely on V-Sim to help
them save substantial time and money in the commissioning of controls systems.
ProModel Innovations in Simulation-Based
Portfolio and Project Management
Carl Napoletano (ProModel
Corporation)
Abstract:
You know that simulation can answer the tough questions
around layout, bottlenecks, capacity planning and capital justification, but
did you know simulation is key to better project and program management? Come
see the latest ProModel innovations in simulation-based PORTFOLIO and PROJECT
management. Find out how the DoD and others are applying simulation to
Strategic Resource Capacity Planning in a new paradigm.

LLamasoft: Supply Chain Guru
Donald A.
Hicks (LLamasoft, Inc.)
Abstract:
LLamasoft is the developer of Supply Chain Guru, a
market leading strategic planning application. Supply Chain Guru combines
optimization technologies with enterprise-scaleable simulation to provide a
powerful tool for analyzing supply chain initiative such as network design,
risk analysis, M&A rationalization and new product rollouts. Guru is also
used for more targeted analyses in the areas of transportation, inventory,
sourcing, site selection and production planning. In this presentation,
LLamasoft President Don Hicks will discuss the technology and its current
adoption in the marketplace.
tarakos GmbH-taraVRbuilder
Anett Braune
(Tarakos)
Abstract:
taraVRbuilder is a 3D software for the "digital
factory" for animation and time-based simulation of conveying, material flow
and warehouses using virtual reality. Its special feature is the simple and
quick preparation of virtual, animated 3D scenes by users with no special
programming or 3D design skills. An XML based interface exists to
automatically generate event-based simulation projects (e.g. eMPlant,
DOSIMIS).

Incontrol Enterprise Dynamics-Supply Chain
Simulation
Matt Rumenapp (Incontrol Enterprise Dynamics)
Abstract:
A growing number of companies use simulation to
optimize their supply chain. Enterprise Dynamics is a powerful tool to test
different configurations of your supply chain based on clear criteria such as
turnover, operational costs and lead-times. Enterprise Dynamics simulation
software allows for real time testing of "what-if" scenarios in your supply
chain. Using Enterprise Dynamics your team can make informed decisions without
making huge investments simply to test a theory, in the end increasing your
company's overall performance.

Frontline Systems-Simulation Optimization,
Stochastic Programming and Robust Optimization Made Easy
Daniel H.
Fylstra (Frontline Systems Inc.)
Abstract:
What's the best way to optimize models with
uncertainty? Simulation optimization is flexible, but not scalable to large
models. Stochastic programming is less flexible but more scalable, and
supports recourse decisions. Robust optimization is very scalable to large
models, but has been hard to implement. See how Premium Solver Platform makes
all of these methods easily usable in Microsoft Excel, in one unified
framework.
